What method of evangelism did you use and how did you start the conversation? chose the method of “servant evangelism” along with the “Romans Road” to help me witness to a mentee Of mine. My young friend had been injured in a robbery attempt. In this attempt he was shot and his very close friend was killed while walking to the store. I had mentored both of these young men for a few years but had never really gotten around to the “proclamation” because they were not ready.
This young man had been badly wounded in this shooting and his family didn’t have transportation to and rom appointments. To be of service, I took on the responsibility of getting them back and forth to doctors and therapy appointments. As this young man and I trekked to and from appointments, we mourned and recalled the memory and life of the young man that was killed. remember saying, “I wish had told him what I’m about to tell you”. than began to tell him that the reason our friend died was sin. That it wasn’t because of him but it was of the sin in this world that unfortunately burdens us all.
I shared the Romans Road with him. What was the reaction (questions/comments/statements) of the unbeliever? His reaction was questions and tears. He questioned me as to why something like this would happen if God really existed. recounted to him the devastating effect that sin has and how relentless it is for destruction. He told me that all his life, except for the hours we spent together, were a struggle for him. He stated that when we were together he could see the love that I have for my wife, family and he and his friend. He said that he wanted what I had. He said I had a peace that went beyond what was going on in my life. old him that peace came from being in a real relationship with Jesus Christ. A elationship that gave me peace in times of trouble like the kind he was experiencing in his life. How did you conclude the conversation in order to follow up? asked my friend if he could have that peace would he want it. Tears streaming down his face, he said yes. I asked him to repeat after me this sinners prayer after me; Heavenly Father, I have sinned against You. want forgiveness for all my sins. believe that Jesus died on the cross for me and rose again. am willing to turn from my sinful life and follow You. Father, I give you my life to do with as you wish.
I want Jesus to come into my life and my heart. This I ask in Jesus name. Amen He repeated the prayer with me and now is saved. I meet with him weekly to discuss scripture we are going through. We are looking at the Book of John. We discuss it and pray for one another. am going to invite him to my church for a Christmas gathering and then for a Sunday service. My hope is that he will feel as though he belongs and would join us as we reach out to the lost. In conclusion, would just like to thank this course and my professor for stoking my evangelism fire again. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation.
