Top management decided to go for wall mountable finger print scanner terminals for each class room at all campuses. Each terminal can take 5 seconds to read the finger print on an average. Due to this it is decided to install two devices one in the front and one in the back of the room for big class rooms, which can accommodate 150 students. To install devices, the network and electricity power points must be provided for each class room. This has to be given for a contractor, who can take at least a week to finish the task. All cabling and electricity materials are provided to the contractor.

As a project manager, you are responsible for identifying the location in each class room where the device can be fitted. You need to get this done as a layout for each class room so that this can be given to the contractor As there are approximately 30 class rooms in total, at least 35 terminals are needed. There must be at least 5 spare devices in case some thing goes wrong with some devices when they are in operation. As students may cause some damage to the devices, these must be enclosed in shatter proof boxes providing a small opening for the finger.

This has to be done by another contractor, who takes at least 3 weeks to finish the job. You are also responsible for developing software that reads attendance details for each student from the terminal and marks it on the school database. If students come later than 10 minutes, the attendance must be recorded, but marked absent and an instant text message must be sent to students’ mobile phones.
